If at any time within 45 days of your purchase from us, you find the identical item in stock and advertised by any other authorized dealer at a price lower than what you paid, Guitar Center will fully protect you. Just bring in that dealer’s ad, along with your original Guitar Center receipt, and we’ll gladly refund you 100% of the difference. We will also do the same for you at the time of purchase. We will match our own lower price if we advertise it for less than you paid within 45 days of your purchase. When matching online prices, our price match will be based upon the competitor’s checkout price (including shipping and handling charges). For purposes of this offer, an “authorized U.S. dealer” includes only bona fide online or brick-and-mortar retailers whose business is the sale of first-quality musical instruments, equipment and accessories which are authorized by substantially all of the manufacturers whose items they sell, including the item at issue. Item must be advertised in a local or national paper, Internet, magazine or catalog by an authorized U.S. dealer. Discontinued merchandise, gray-market merchandise, merchandise on which any identification codes or numbers have been removed or defaced, demo and exclusive models, floor samples, factory seconds, open-box items, limited-quantity items, closeouts, bundles, misprints, auctions and auction sites, rebates or deferred savings, outlet center items, free or promotional items, vintage and used merchandise, financing and taxes are all exempt. We reserve the right to limit quantities of price-matched items. Photocopies of ads or receipts will not be accepted as verification.


Our goal is your total satisfaction. If you’re not satisfied, neither are we. If for any reason you’re not completely satisfied with your purchase, simply return it in its original condition within 30 days of purchase (with a few exceptions—see list below) and we’ll give you a full refund. It’s that simple. Returned items must be in original, brand-new condition, showing no signs of wear or use such as belt-buckle or pick scratches, scuffs, dings or scrapes on the instrument or collateral materials. Items must also include all original packaging, manuals, warranty cards and accessories or your return may be subject to a replacement fee of between $5 and $100. Fees are item specific. Your refund will be promptly processed upon completing evaluation of your returned item. Refunds are made for product value only, excluding shipping and handling charges.

Exceptions to 30-day return:

  • 14-day return period on DJ equipment, lighting and fog machines, workstation keyboards, recording devices and rack signal processors
  • 3-day return period on vintage instruments
  • No returns allowed on Apple hardware, opened software, books, CDs, videos, turntable cartridges, microphones, tubes, all in-ear products (ear buds, ear plugs, in-ear monitors), special orders of custom items such as cases and items we don’t stock


Guitar Center Layaway offers another option for you to get the gear you want. With Guitar Center Layaway, there are no fees, and deposits are 100% refundable. All layaways require a minimum deposit of 25% of the purchase price, with 30 days to pay the balance and pick up. Layaways that have reached 30 days will be cancelled; the item(s) released and the deposit will be placed as a fully refundable credit on account in your name. Some items may not be available for layaway.


At Guitar Center, we are committed to making the repair process as easy as possible for our customers. Guitar Center provides repair services through a variety of methods including: in-store repair facilities (some of which are owned and operated by Guitar Center and some of which operate as independent licensees); outside service centers which regularly provide offsite repairs; and, at times, we may refer you to a local independent repair service center. In any case, Guitar Center accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to any customer-owned merchandise which was not directly caused by our repairs or handling. The customer is fully responsible for all charges incurred, including but not limited to, freight to and from the repair service center, parts, labor, local tax, handling fee and surcharge/estimate fee (if any). Merchandise not picked up (and paid for) within 90 days after notification (using the contact information provided to us) of completed repairs will be considered abandoned by Guitar Center.


Refunds for cash purchases over $50.00 will be made by check.


Guitar Center regularly offers both vintage and special limited-edition musical instruments to the public. Because the supply is extremely limited on these instruments and demand is often far beyond the supply, all deposits, credit on account and preorders of vintage and/or special limited-edition musical instruments are still strictly subject to availability. The prepayment of a deposit does not guarantee that you have purchased or will receive the instrument; it merely establishes that you are on the priority list for that instrument, subject to availability. If you have placed a deposit, credit on account and/or preorder of one of these vintage and/or special limited-edition musical instruments and we are not able to deliver the instrument to you due to its limited availability, we will offer you a full refund of your deposit.

Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price/List Price (“MSRP”) is the suggested retail selling price of a product provided to us by manufacturers. We may commonly sell products at prices lower than MSRP and, for any given product, no sales may have occurred at MSRP. MSRP is a benchmark to compare our discounts from MSRP to pricing offered by other retailers. Whether other retailers sell at MSRP will vary by product, geographic location, type of store, and over time. Although we periodically update the MSRPs posted in our stores, direct mail offerings and on our website as we receive them, in some cases manufacturers may change a suggested retail price without notice to us.
