An Evening of Dialogue and Insight with Pete Rock and Special Guests
In a continuing commitment to providing customers with informative and insightful commentary from today’s most respected artists, Guitar Center recently hosted another Sessions with legendary hip-hop producer Pete Rock.

Sessions was kicked off with 5 contest winners getting an exclusive MPC tutorial with Pete himself. Akai provided MPC2500’s and specialists to help with the lesson. Pete made a beat from the ground up and shared a rare look at his production style to the 5 lucky winners. The crowd lined up hours in advance to witness Pete discussing his legendary career first hand. Other special guests on hand included 9th Wonder (Little Brother), Just Blaze (Jay-Z, Mariah Carey), DJ Nu-Mark (Jurassic 5) and DJ Revolution of the legendary Wake Up Show from Los Angeles. The discussion ranged from production tips and tricks to sample clearance to gear they use and of course Pete’s influence on their individual careers. Pete walked the audience through some classic tracks including “Down with the King” which he produced for Run DMC and “T.R.O.Y.” one of the songs that first garnered him recognition. He answered several audience questions during a Q&A session, giving his fans a new insight into his illustrious career. Afterwards, the room lined up to get their collectables and albums autographed and the panel stayed until everyone had their autograph and photos. At the end of the evening Pete was overheard saying “I can’t believe you did all this for me.” Thank you Pete for doing all you have for us.
